Broward County Public Schools
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) System is Florida’s first fully accredited school system since 1962. BCPS serves over 265,000 students from 208 countries who speak 181 different languages. Approximately 175,000 adult students are also served each year at BCPS technical colleges and adult and community schools.
The system’s two-generation family literacy programs have served hundreds of families across the district and have expanded upon state initiatives over the years to meet the needs of pre-K through twelfth grade families.
NCFL and Toyota’s relationship with BCPS began in 1992 with Toyota Families for Learning, followed by the 2004 Toyota Families in Schools program, and continues with this Toyota Family Learning grant.
BCPS plans to use Family Service Learning to help families play a more active role in their academic achievement, community engagement, and socioeconomic success. Through Toyota Family Learning funding, training, and technical support, BCPS will advance its mission of “educating all students to reach their highest potential.”
